In October 2013, PSM President Harry Woo received a call from the China organiser of the "Embracing China — World Chinese Photography Competition" to say that one of his black-and-white works, "Time", had won first prize in the competition, which received more than 7,000 entries.
President Harry Woo also received his Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) on 18 November. The PSM Council congratulates and applauds him on the achievement.

"Teamwork with a common goal" led to the success of several of our projects, notably PSM's 31st Salon, which concluded with much fanfare.
Recently, PSM received distinction application portfolios from Singapore, Hong Kong and America — a reflection of the prestige PSM holds in the eyes of photographers. We were also glad to see a great increase in membership this year, reaching historic figures, and we thank our members for their support.
It is a good sign that many clubs are organising international photography salons. PSA China and PhotoVivo Singapore continued to run their 6th and 2nd international salons respectively, both receiving good response. This year also saw a record number of joint activities, with many local and international organisations collaborating with PSM on talks, competitions, seminars and exhibitions. We are glad that the efforts of our Council members bore fruit.
October was a very busy month. From the 11th to the 18th we were engaged with Canon's Photo Marathon, which stretched from Kuala Lumpur to Penang; the judging session was even interviewed by the show "Face Off." From the 19th to the 28th, eight PSM members visited Sichuan, China for a photo exchange, allowing us to interact with photographers there and share the progress of photography in Malaysia.
From the 10th to the 15th of November we were invited to "Four Seasons of Jiangsu" for a photography exchange, organised by Hong Kong China Tour Publications and the World Chinese Photographers Federation, with 40 established photographers from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, America, Canada, Japan, Australia and Malaysia.
We hope PSM members will continue to support the society's activities — and let us bring PSM to the next level.
